Shore Excursion Berlin: itinerary
Our shore excursion will first leave the port of Warnemunde by coach, arriving in Berlin where we’ll meet our expert guide. During the trip we’ll have the chance to see Berlin’s top attractions including Brandenburg Gate, St. Nicholas’ Church, the Reichstag building and Alexanderplatz. In this public square, simply referred to as Alex by the locals, we’ll find The Weltzeituhr (Worldtime Clock) and the Fountain of Friendship.
We’ll of course stop off at Checkpoint Charlie, the most well known crossing point of the Berlin Wall. Following the boulevard known as Karl Marx Allee, we’ll see the East Side Gallery of the Wall.
In the Mitte district there’s lots to explore. We’ll see the reconstructed historic heart of the city known as Nikolaiviertel, the boulevard Unter den Linden, Bebelplatz square and Museum Island. Another highlight is Gendarmenmarkt square, considered one of the finest in Berlin for the harmony of its monuments. Here we can admire Deutscher Dom and Französischer Dom, two churches which flank the Konzerthaus concert hall. In front stands the Schiller Monument, in honour of the German poet and philosopher.
Our Berlin shore excursion will continue with the Holocaust Memorial, Potsdamer Platz, Berlin Cathedral and The Victory Column (which stands inside the park of Tiergarten).
Next, we’ll see KaDeWe department store, Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the House of World Cultures and the grandiose Charlottenburg Castle.
The Berlin shore excursion will conclude with a visit to Berlin Hauptbahnhof, the largest train station in Europe. From here, we’ll return to port by bus.
