Shore Excursion Paris: itinerary
The most romantic city in the world is a 2 hour 30 minute drive from the port of Le Havre.
Our love affair begins at the neighbourhood of La Défence, just west of the city. Just one look at the skyline tells us this is modern France. Skyscrapers stretch upwards, their sleek metal and glass designs competing to be tallest.
We’ll then drive by the famous Arc de Triomphe and Place du Trocadero until we reach the Eiffel Tower. With about half an hour before we move to the next destination, you might just have time to count all 1710 steps!
Our Paris shore excursion continues with a walking tour passing through Place de la Concorde to reach Notre-Dame Cathedral. After admiring this iconic French Gothic church, we’ll take in Saint Chapelle, the Conciergerie and The Louvre.
Those who can’t pass up the chance to see the Mona Lisa in the flesh can leave the tour here and enter the museum.
Otherwise, our Paris shore excursion will carry on towards the Rive Gauche until we reach the Musée d’Orsay. This museum holds the largest collection of impressionist masterpieces in the world, including works by Picasso and Renoir. Originally the Gare d’Orsay train station, the building itself is an example of Beaux-Arts style.
Our walking shore excursion of Paris will end with a stroll along what the French call the most beautiful avenue in the world; the Champs Elysees. We’ll wander past the luxury shops, boutiques and cafes until we reach the Arc de Triomphe and meet the coach in time to depart for port.
