Shore Excursion Alexandria: itinerary
The shore excursion departs from Port Said and reaches Alexandria in about three hours.
Once we arrive in this historic city we’ll explore on foot starting at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. This modern building commemorates the grand Library of Alexandria, one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world.
We’ll continue to the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa and to the Roman column, Pompey’s Pillar.
Our Alexandria shore excursion continues to Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th century fortress built to protect the city from Crusaders.
Finally, we’ll stop at Montaza Palace which was the summer residence of the royal family. Built in a mix of Turkish and Florentine styles, this distinctive palace has long open arched arcades facing the sea.
After the guided tour, we will return to our bus and head to the port of Alexandria for boarding.
