SHORE EXCURSION BRUGES: itinerary
The charming historical centre is just a 30 minute drive from the port of Zeebrugge where our coach will meet you to begin this Bruges shore excursion tour. Once in the city, the tour will begin at the Church of Our Lady. The tallest building in Bruges and a towering example of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles.
A few steps away is Burg Square, one of the oldest parts of town which is lined with numerous beautiful and historic buildings. We’ll take in the 14th century Gothic Town Hall, known as Stadhuis to the locals. The spires, towers and rich facade which decorate this attraction make it one of the must-see spots in Belgium.
Continuing the shore excursion, our next destination will be St. Salvator’s Cathedral, the oldest church in Bruges. Although it wasn’t originally built as a cathedral but as a simple parish church. St. Salvator’s was granted cathedral status in the 19th Century, and a taller, more impressive tower was built to show off its new status.
No tour would be complete without a visit to Grote Markt, or Market Square, once the commericial centre of Bruges. As the modern heart of the city, Grote Markt is overlooked by the Belfort.
Standing 83m tall, The Belfort oversees the hustle and bustle of the square below. Tourists take photos whilst admiring the fairy-tale atmosphere and locals stop to enjoy a coffee. The symbol of Bruges and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Belfort is the perfect place to conclude our shore excursion tour.
